WNC Natural Products Tool-Kit

North Carolina Natural Products Association: The Blue Ridge Naturally™ brand is administered by the North Carolina Natural Products Association (NCNPA), a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to conserving, cultivating, sustainably harvesting, and processing North Carolina grown medicinal plants. NCNPA's mission is to establish North Carolina as a key global supplier of premium-quality raw materials and plant-based value added products such as natural medicines, organic products, functional foods, and personal care products. If you are interested in natural products, we encourage you to visit the NCNPA website, http://www.nc-naturalproducts.org/about-ncnpa, and become a member of this important natural products organization.

In 2015 NCNPA in partnership with NCSU and SBTDC received funding from the Agriventures program to produce a Marketing Guide and a Natural Products Industry Resource Guide. These are available to NCNPA Supporters and Blue Ridge Naturally certified manufacturers and growers. Become a Supporter or email seal@BlueRidgeNaturally.org to apply for certification to access these resources.

Bent Creek Institute: The Institute (BCI) champions, catalyzes, facilitates and coordinates research, business development and market opportunities for North Carolina specialty crop growers and botanical medicine developers and processors. Combining traditional knowledge of medicinal plants with validated science, Bent Creek develops new intellectual property leading to proprietary products for new business creation, existing business expansion and improved profitability, and the attraction and site location of natural product and botanical medicine manufacturing companies.

BioNetwork: The BioNetwork BioBusiness Center is a statewide resource supporting growth of the natural products and life science industries in North Carolina. The Center works with partners in economic development, industry and the community college system to provide support in business services that help entrepreneurs, start-up and early stage businesses understand regulatory requirements and begin manufacturing and marketing value-added natural products; tailored education, workforce development and outreach activities that develop skills and foster growth and awareness of the natural products and life science industries in North Carolina; and critical analytical laboratory services, equipment and wet laboratory facilities to assist small businesses with product development and to provide analytical testing services.

Blue Ridge Food Ventures: BRFV is an 11,000 sq. ft. shared-use kitchen incubator and natural products manufacturing facility that offers support in product development, guidance through the maze of regulations governing safe production of food products and dietary supplements, advice on packaging and label design, and much more.

Small Business Technology and Development Center: The SBTDC is North Carolina's leading resource for growing and developing businesses. SBTDC's highly skilled professionals, its position as a program of The University of North Carolina System, and partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration make it a unique and valued asset in the economic development of North Carolina.

North Carolina State University, ncherb.org: Run by Dr. Jeanine Davis, an associate professor in the Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University, this website is dedicated to the development of sustainable and organic production systems for herbs, vegetables, and a wide variety of specialty crops and provides access to up-to-date, practical information on the production and marketing of these crops.
